Increased Park Ranger Presence for Dogs at Windansea Beach, Little Point, and Marine Street

San Diego Park Rangers have been increasing their presence at Windansea Beach, Little Point, and Marine Street to enforce the existing regulations for dogs on the beach which are  posted in the beach areas.  The regulations provide that:

• Between October 31 to March 31 dogs are not allowed between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

• Between April 1 to  October 31 dogs  are not allowed between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

• Outside these hours dogs are permitted but must be on a leash at all times.

 

The increased enforcement follows numerous complaints about dogs being off leash during prohibited hours, including reports of:

• Excessive barking

• Aggressive behavior and dog fights

• Dogs running loose around beachgoers

• At least one reported dog bite incident

 

Park Rangers have stated that violations may result in giving a Notice to Appear which gives the option of either paying a fine (bail) to settle the case or appearing in court to contest the charges.
